I was the lead producer of This Little Light, a 15-episode interview-format music education podcast created and hosted by Flea, founding member and bassist of the Red Hot Chili Peppers. The podcast was executive produced by Flea, Parallel partners Ken Kao, Nic Gonda and Jocelyn Florence and Chris Corcoran of Cadence13. Launched on March 30, 2023 at #1 in the Music category on Apple podcasts, it has over 600K downloads to date and 800+ 5-star reviews on Spotify.

On the podcast, Flea, co-founder of the non-profit Silverlake Conservatory of Music, invites musical guests from all genres to talk about how they fell in love with music, including the teachers that guided them, the influences that inspired them and how the lessons they learned as young musicians have shaped their creativity, resilience and careers. Guests range from legends to rising stars, and include Rick Rubin, Patti Smith, Earl Sweatshirt, Stewart Copeland, Jewel, Thundercat, Margo Price and Cynthia Erivo.

A portion of the podcast’s proceeds goes towards funding the Silverlake Conservatory of Music’s operating costs and scholarship program. Since it’s founding in 2001, Jennifer Rey has been at the helm as Executive Director and we’re grateful for her partnership and support in bringing this project to life.
