The Sari Series
I was the producer and creative project manager of The Sari Series: An Anthology of Drape a fashion-forward, non-profit digital anthology of India's regional sari drapes through short film. Launched October 10, 2017, it was executive produced and creative directed by Malika Verma Kashyap of Border&Fall, with the invaluable advisory of sari historian and textile scholar Rta Kapur Chishti.
The Sari Series has two objectives: to create an accessible and comprehensive cultural documentation of India’s sari drapes and to address a much needed perception shift of the garment worldwide. Both objectives are conveyed through 89 how-to-drape short films available online; and three independent films on the sari's past, present and future by filmmakers Pooja Kaul, Q and Bon Duke, available offline for in-person screenings.
